Lise stars in Turandot at Gran Teatre del Liceu

This month sees Lise take the starring role in Puccini’s Turandot at Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu.  Starting on 8 October and running until 25 October, this production promises to be a visually stunning spectacle with contemporary scenography and spectacular costumes.

This is Lise’s Liceu debut and other members of the star line-up include Jorge de León, Ermonela Jaho and Anita Hartig. The opera will be conducted by Josep Pons with Franc Aleu as Stage & Video Director. Twenty years ago the Gran Teatre del Liceu reopened after a devastating fire with a performance of Turandot and this spectacular new production marks exactly twenty years since the reopening.

Lise releases Wagner Siegfried album on SWR Classic

This summer, Lise releases Wagner: Siegfried Act III (abridged) with Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, conducted by Pietari Inkinen. She sings the role of Brünnhilde, one she is well known for, alongside Stefan Vinke as Siegfried.

Lise sang Brünnhilde in her first-ever full Ring cycle for Opera Australia in 2016 with Pietari Inkinen and received the the coveted Green Room Award and Helpmann Award for Best Female Performer in an Opera.

The album will be released on the SWR Classic label on 9 August and is available to purchase, stream and download now.

Lise wins ‘Best Female Performer in an Opera’ at the Helpmann Awards!

Lise has won the Helpmann Award for ‘Best Female Performer in an Opera’ for the title role in Salome with Opera Australia.  The award was announced at a Gala awards show in Melbourne on 15 July 2019.

The annual Helpmann Awards recognise distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in the performing arts of Australia. Lise won a Helpmann Award in 2016 for her role of Brünnhilde in Opera Australia’s Ring Cycle.

Lise’s interpretation of Salome has been praised unanimously by the critics. The Sydney Morning Herald wrote “Her performance is a long crescendo. After pausing for the voiceless dance her demands for Jokanaan’s head open out in ferocity over a range of more than two octaves leading to searing intensity in the final scene. With a strong stage presence of defiant young beauty and seething resentment it is a towering performance.”

Lise nominated for Helpmann Award as ‘Best Female Performer in an Opera’

Lise has been nominated for a Helpmann Award in the category ‘Best Female Performer in an Opera’ for the title role in Salome with Opera Australia.

The annual Helpmann Awards recognise distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in the performing arts of Australia. Lise has been nominated in the category ‘Opera’ alongside Vivica Genaux, Lorina Gore and Jessica Pratt.

Lise’s interpretation of Salome has been praised unanimously by the critics. The Sydney Morning Herald wrote “Her performance is a long crescendo. After pausing for the voiceless dance her demands for Jokanaan’s head open out in ferocity over a range of more than two octaves leading to searing intensity in the final scene. With a strong stage presence of defiant young beauty and seething resentment it is a towering performance.”

In 2016, she won a Helpmann Award for her role of Brünnhilde in Opera Australia’s Ring Cycle. She received rave reviews with The Sydney Morning Herald again saying “Lindstrom, a tremendous Brünnhilde throughout…ended the Ring in a blaze of glory literally and metaphorically”. For this same production she has also been awarded a Green Room Award.

Lise is a frequent performer at Opera Australia, having performed Brünnhilde in their Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung, returned this year for the title role and Salome, and will come back again this autumn to sing the title role in Turandot.

The winners will be announced at the Gala award show on July 15th in Melbourne.
