This September, Lise Lindstrom opens Oper Köln’s new season as Die Färberin in a brand new production of Die Frau ohne Schatten.

In 2020, Ms. Lindstrom delivered a stellar performance of the same role with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, earning widespread acclaim and leading Bachtrack to comment:

Lindstrom competed for our loyalty by summoning pathos and sympathy for her frustrated Wife. Her slender voice is enticingly warm in the middle and focused on top. You could easily believe, seeing her suffer so beautifully, why Barak remains besotted with his wife no matter how much she scolds him.”

This stunning production of Strauss’ enigmatic fairytale will be skillfully helmed by director Katharina Thoma, marking her debut with the company. Adding to the production’s opulence, the stage design is the creation of the renowned Johannes Leiacker, with costumes meticulously designed by Irina Bartels. The immersive experience will be further enhanced by the mesmerizing video projections courtesy of Georg Lendorff and the expert lighting artistry of Nicol Hundsberg.

Ms. Lindstrom will share the stage with an incredible cast that includes Jordan Shanahan as Barak, AJ Glueckert as Der Kaiser, Daniela Köhler as Die Kaiserin, Irmgard Vilsmaier as the Die Amme, and Karl-Heinz Lehner as Der Geisterbote, among others. Marc Albrecht conducts.

The performances are scheduled for September 17, 20, 23, 29, October 3, 8 and 11.
