This July, Lise Lindstrom will join Nationaltheater Mannheim as the epic Valkyrie, Brünnhilde, in Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, also known as the Ring Cycle.

The monumental cycle is comprised of four of Wagner’s most celebrated music dramas: Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung, with Brünnhilde appearing in the latter three of these operas. Loosely based on German and Norse mythology, Wagner’s Ring is a thrilling and highly original quadrilogy that has been performed in the world’s biggest opera houses following its successful debut at the Bayreuth Festival in 1876.

Ms. Lindstrom has been highly praised in her portrayal of Brünnhilde, with The Guardian having proclaimed “Lise Lindstrom’s Brünnhilde, her first full Cycle in the role, should install her as one of the greats” following her performances with Opera Australia in 2016. Along with Ms. Lindstom, the saga will feature incredible artists including Stefan Vinke, Jonathan Stoughton, KS Thomas Jesatko, Joachim Goltz, Jelena Kordić, Renatus Mészár and more. Culminating his time as the general music director of the Nationaltheater Mannheim, Alexander Soddy conducts Yona Kim’s new visionary productions.
