This January, Lise Lindstrom returns to Opera Australia as Turandot for her 200th performance of the role and her 49th production of this searing drama.

She has performed the title role at several of the most esteemed opera companies across the world including The Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala and the Royal Opera House. Critically acclaimed for her depiction of the despotic ice princess, Ms. Lindstrom received the following rave review when she last performed the role with the company in 2019 in the same iconic production by Graeme Murphy:

“Sopranos who can sing the gruelling title role without breaking a sweat are in short supply. Blazing American soprano Lise Lindstrom is one of the best Turandots in the world and it shows, lazily filling the cavernous State Theatre with her steely, colossal soprano.”

Alongside Ms. Lindstrom, the opera will also feature Yonghoon Lee/Ivan Gyngazov as Calaf, Karah Son as Liù, David Parkin as Timur, Virgilio Marino as Pong, Iain Henderson as Pang, Luke Gabbedy as Ping, Dean Bassett as Emperor, Alexander Sefton as Mandarin, Leah Thomas as First Handmaiden, Katherine Wiles as Second Handmaiden and Dean Bassett as Price of Persia. Christian Badea conducts.

Ms. Lindstrom will perform on January 12, 15, 19, 22, 24, 28, Feb 2, Feb 5.
