Wiener Staatsoper’s Salome broadcast online

Lise’s lauded performance in the title role of Salome at the Wiener Staatsoper can be enjoyed again as the opera house are broadcasting her performance from 24 January 2020 on Staatsoper Live: 27 May from 6pm CET. Watch here

With Boleslaw Barlog’s sparkling production, Lise is joined on stage by Herwig Pecoraro, Waltraud Meier and Michael Volle.

Lise has won numerous awards for this role, most recently ‘Best Actress in an Opera’ from Broadway World for Salome at Opera Australia in 2019. Her interpretation of Salome has been praised unanimously by the critics. The Sydney Morning Herald wrote “Her performance is a long crescendo. After pausing for the voiceless dance her demands for Jokanaan’s head open out in ferocity over a range of more than two octaves leading to searing intensity in the final scene. With a strong stage presence of defiant young beauty and seething resentment it is a towering performance.”
