Livestream: Lise performs Mahler’s Symphony No. 8
On February 2 & 3, Lise performs Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 (Symphony of a Thousand) with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, singing Soprano 1/Magna Peccatrix. A magnificent tribute to love and redemption, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 brings together the 9th century Latin hymn Veni Creator Spiritus and Goethe’s story of Faust. According to Mahler, the sublime symphony—which features over 300 performers—sounds “as if the whole universe began to sing.” Daniel Harding conducts both performances, which also feature Hanna Husáhr, Rachel Willis Soerenson, Karen Cargill, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Simon O’Neill, George Humphreys and Shen Yang.
