Lise Lindstrom makes role debut as Strauss’s Elektra in Hamburg
After earning critical and popular acclaim as Salome, Lise Lindstrom takes on another Strauss heroine when she makes her debut as Elektra at the Staatsoper Hamburg. The American dramatic soprano, who possesses the “capacity to soar over [Strauss]’s most intense orchestration with ease and beauty” (The Opera Critic), premieres the role under conductor Simone Young in a production by August Everding. Agnes Baltsa sings Klytämnestra, Hellen Kwon is Chrysothemis, and James Rutherford performs Orest.
Performances of the bloody drama take place February 14, 17, 19, and 24. Click here to purchase tickets.
