Opera Australia welcomes Lise Lindstrom for house debut in Turandot

This June, Lise Lindstrom will reprise the title role in Turandot for her debut with Opera Australia. A noted interpreter of Puccini’s Peking princess, the American soprano most recently sang the role last year in Torre del Lago and, under the baton of Zubin Mehta, in Valencia. Opera Australia’s production of Turandot is directed by Graeme Murphy and conducted by Christian Badea, and stars Yonghoon Lee, Hyeseoung Kwon, and Jud Arthur.

One of the leading interpreters of the demanding role, Lise has earned acclaim around the world as Turandot. Of another recent performance in Detroit, Opera News wrote: “We saw the tender heart beneath the glacial, dragon assoluta exterior.”

Performances take place June 24, 27, and 30, as well as July 4, 10, 15, 18, 25, 28, and 31. Following this summer with Opera Australia, Lise returns to The Metropolitan Opera for the same role in Franco Zeffirelli’s sumptuous production.
