“An object lesson in understated elegance” in La Coruña

Last week’s Strauss gala in La Coruña was a triumph for Lise Lindstrom. The American soprano, who performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under conductor Günter Neuhold, earned critical and popular acclaim for her performances of selections from Elektra and Salome.

El País praised her “impressive technical lines and dynamic blending, ample volume, and a stage presence that is an object lesson in understated elegance.” Likewise, La Voz de Galicia raved, “Her handling of the metallic tinges of Strauss’s music, her German diction, and her theatrical delivery gave special prominence to her scenes.”

Lise continues her autumn of Strauss in Aarhus next week with two performances of the composer’s Vier letzte Lieder.
