Under conductor Zubin Mehta, Lise Lindstrom sings Turandot in Valencia

This month finds Lise Lindstrom in Valencia, where she sings Puccini’s Turandot at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia June 11, 13, and 15. Starring in Chen Kaige’s sumptuous production directed by Allex Aguilera, Lise is heard opposite tenor Jorge de León as the Calaf and Jessica Nuccio as Liù, with legendary conductor Zubin Mehta on the podium.

In a season that places special focus on Turandot, Lise has triumphed in the United Kingdom, Italy, and the United States. Of her most recent account of the role, The Detroit News raved, “Lindstrom’s silvery but powerful voice attacked her high B’s and C’s with laser-like accuracy. She didn’t just sing those notes, she annihilated them.” Of her Covent Garden debut in the role last fall, Opera Britannia dubbed the American soprano “Nilsson reborn.”
